Digipak with Feedback

Digipak template

Back Cover

I choose to subvert to the feedback that I received as I feel that as it is now it is more technologically advanced. The light going through the body links into how important technology is in the Dupstep genre but as well as this, how simple and clear the this cover is also a convention to the album covers I have analysed. However though I made the background brighter so that it can stand out more, which the people who gave feedback requested.

Dark and bright background try outs

The reason why going to partly go with the bright background is because i got my class opinion on what they preferred and why. The people who voted for the dark back ground thought that the typography stood out more so that reason I am not going to process with the bright background, as the artist is not in the video (which is conventional) I wanted to sell the artist via the album cover in which the artist's name standing out is key in achieving this. However though I am going to slightly brighten the light in contrast to the dark background because I understand what my peers said that it does look more "professional" in terms of better lighting.

Yellow and white font

The reason why that I am going to proceed with the white font because once again I asked my class opinion on what they preferred and why and the responses where good. People who agreed with having white font thought that it seemed more "professional" whereas the people who preferred the yellow font thought that it related more to the genre (Dubstep). So I am going with the white font as I always intended to sell the artist more than the genre on the front cover where I have sold the genre on the other three panels strongly. In addition to this as our music video is more of a mainstream video which is not conventional, i feel that the colour of font reflects that because of the professionalism. Where mainstream digipaks look more professional as well.

However though this is the font I wanted to place all over the digipak as we used this in our music video on the letter so I wanted the album cover to have a reference towards the video. Where this font would link the digipak with the music video. But because of the software we could not use it as we had difficulties in transferring the software onto the computer.

Digipak covers

This double image of the girl was produced through Photoshop. The content aware tool was used, in which the image can be copied and pasted onto another layer to produce this final outcome where I also adjusted the colouring via Photoshop. The reason I choose to do this, is that the Dupstep artists uses a lot of technologies in their music and I wanted the digipak to reflect and connote our music video.
In addition to this, I found that the inside covers are usually similar and that the front and back covers connote each other, but also that the inside covers very plain and simple. However as I wanted to express the genre characteristic I subverted from the plain and simple convention by using strong vibrant colours and effects on the captured images to portray and express the genre and expressed the personality and characteristics of the artist on the front cover with the use of the close up of him but also through the track lists and the back cover.

Locations

We choose the schools main hall to stage our party scene as it had coloured lighting in the hall which strongly conventional in parties and in the our researched music video for example in the 'I need air' and 'Ghost n stuff' songs. also because it as a great amount of space to consume a party crowd.

We choose to use this house as one of our locations as it can be seen to look 1960s and 1980s like as we seek to convey a transformation in time. But also this location is convenient as we have to bring heavy equipment from school to the location in school hours, and as the location is not far from school it seems a good location to film footage.

We choose the schools toilets to film footage as it was a convenient location with a good pathway outside the toilets. But we also used a toilet as a location as we felt it was a good place to indicate that their is a change in time as the audience will be focusing on her appearance, and most significantly the change in her appearance as she will be looking at a mirror.

Criticisms of Round 1 of the Party scene

- The camera work is shakey
- The dancers were not dancing together so it did not look crowded
- We did not get a variety of camera shots
- We did not get the dancers under control
- People changed the music whilst we were filming

Party Scene Round 2

Proposal

Ask media, film studies students and the actors in the schools production to act in our party scene because they are more likely to listen and take it more seriously because will understand the seriousness of filming and acting.

Ask the lighting technician if can do the lighting again for us and for him to not let anyone to change the music apart from Jordan, Genie and Naomi.

Just before we film it outline to them what we actually want them to do and also position them if necessary. Mark a circle ion the stage in which I want them to stay within so it continually looks crowded and looks a club scene.

Do rehearsal before final filming so they can get to terms to what they are doing and get use to
dancing to Dubstep music, if they haven’t before.

With the camera work we are going to use a variety of camera shots and also in a way so that the projector screen is shown rarely.

Deadlines

Storyboard to be done and put on YouTube by Wednesday 20th October evening - (Naomi)

Final Script to be done and put on YouTube by Tuesday 19th October evening- (Genie)

These important deadlines have not been meant by Naomi and Genie, this is having an effect on how long it is taking us to film because without the script we do not know exactly what we need to film and without the storyboard it is uncertain at times what camera shoot we are meant to be producing.
